AAA cut from the original mono master tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal. Heavyweight glossy gatefold jackets feature rare alternate French covers with the original U.S. art in the gatefolds. Housed in a Sierra linen book-cloth, foil-stamped slipcase with rare photos and liner notes by Syd Schwartz. Individually numbered, limited to 2,000.

    It’s everything you’re looking for

    This email came in as I was flipping the “Coltrane’s Sound” album to the B side. How timely. Packaging.

    Packaging is lovely. Each Atlantic album has the European cover and French summary on the outside back ckver, U.S U. Cover and synopsis on inside. All album covers and photography are lush, very colorful, and give an elegant feel.

    The sound, unsurprisingly, is the All-Star among stars here. Incredible mastery on very rich vinyl. I upgraded my system not long before obtaining this so I’m definitely appreciative on a pressing like this validating my purchase but old TT was a perfectly fine Audio Technica LP with built in preamp and powered speakers and I’d bet my last dollar it would have sounded just great on that platter as well.

    They’re running out. They only made 2500 (clearly marked and embedded on the lower back right corner (17** here) so , if you’re contemplating this, use this review to justify doing so.

    It’ll appreciate. Do it .

    Fantastic set

    Have to say that this Rhino Hi Fi box set of Coltrane’s Atlantic albums in mono is a revelation. I have never heard them sound so good in glorious mono thanks to Kevin Gray’s genius and the whole packaging is fantastic.
